Carmine Certified is a red colored compound. Carmine is a semisynthetic dye, a complex of aluminium and a natural dye carminic acid. It is commonly used with aluminum, iron or other metal salts to enhance its activity. Carmine is also known as Alum lake of carminic acid, Cochineal, Nacarat, Natural Red 4. Carmine stains are solutions or preparations containing carmine dye that are used to stain tissues and cells for microscopic examination. The stains are typically derived from carmine, cochineal extract, or carminic acid and are available in various formulations. It is certified for use in Orth′s lithium carbonate technique, Southgate′s mucicarmine method, and Best′s carmine for glycogen.
