Eosin Y 1%, Buy now Ready to use Indicator solution for reliable and Reproducible results from Tristains indicators.
Eosin Y 1% is a fluorescein-based synthetic dye that is made by a mixture of the fluorescein disodium salt and the tetrabromofluorescein. It is usually present in the form of reddish-orange powder and is highly soluble in water and ethanol. A 1% Eosin Y solution is prepared by dissolving 1 gram of Eosin Y into about 100 mL of water to obtain a stable, ready-to-use solution. This formulation is a good biological stain and also a pH marker, where a color change between yellow and red can be seen as the level of pH rises. Eosin Y 1% is a frequently used counterstain in histology, microscopy and analytical chemistry.
Applications
- Used as a counterstain to hematoxylin in Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining protocols.
- Stains acidic cellular components, including cytoplasm, collagen fibers, and red blood cells.
- Used in assessing cell membrane integrity in microscopy.
- Is used as a pH indicator in analytical and biochemical titrations.
- Used in preparation of slides and the examination of tissues on research and diagnostic labs.
Key features
- Gives bright contrast that can be easily interpreted in histological preparations.
- Available as a ready-to-use, stable, 1% solution with guaranteed reproducible and consistent results.
- Soluble in water and ethanol, compatible with various laboratory protocols.
- Shows a distinct yellow to red color change under the influence of pH changes.
General Description
Eosin Y 1% is a reagent in the laboratory, which can be used in histology, cell biology, microscopy, and analytical chemistry. Its two-fold property to be used as a biological stain and as a pH indicator also renders it a useful reagent in both standard laboratory practices and sophisticated laboratory work. The formulation guarantees reliable performance and stability in staining. This is a 1% aqueous solution of Eosin Y, a derivative of fluorescein which is a dye made up of fluorescein disodium salt and tetra-bromofluorescein. The dye is in the form of a bright reddish-orange powder, and it gives a dark solution when it is dissolved in water. Eosin Y can also be known as Acid Red 87, Bromo Fluorescein and Tetrabromofluorescein Sodium Salt.
