Lugol’s Iodine, also referred to as Lugol’s solution, is a chemical solution that is readily available and contains 6% iodine in 4% potassium iodide. Its chemical formula is I3K. The composition of Lugol’s Iodine includes Iodine (I₂) as the active staining agent, Potassium Iodide (KI) which enhances the solubility of iodine in water, and Distilled Water as the solvent for the solution.
