Silver nitrate is a white crystalline substance represented by the chemical formula AgNO3. When dissolved in water, it usually appears colorless and clear. A 10% solution indicates the presence of 10 grams of silver nitrate in every 100 milliliters of the solution. This 10% silver nitrate solution finds applications in histology, hematology, cytology, and microbiology for a range of purposes.
TriStains provides a marketplace for histology and biological stains, which is comprehensive enough to encompass the peculiar requirements of laboratories specializing in Histology, Cytology, Microbiology, and Hematology. With a reputation for exceeding quality expectations, TriStains performance is outstanding which allows for resolution of cell and tissue components fundamental to life sciences to be clearly visualized. Each product under TriStains series is validated for accuracy, reliability and consistency. TriStains, which manufactures and markets stains and indicators in various packing, offers laboratories turn key solutions for all their staining and indicator needs, improving accuracy in every experiment.
Application :
- In histology, Potassium permanganate 1% solution is used as an oxidizing agent and staining reagent.
- It is used in decolorization of tissue sections after silver staining such as Golgi or Bielschowsky staining, to remove excess silver deposits and to clarify the background of the stained tissue.
- It is used to pretreat cellular structures such as lipofuscin for Schiff’s reagent staining. By oxidizing lipids and proteins, it also increases contrast in electron microscopy applications, resulting in better visualization of cell structures.
Benefits :
- Suitable for staining
- Improved contrast in electron microscopy
- Less aggressive than higher concentrations, making it more suitable for sensitive applications
