Alizarin yellow GG (AYGG) is a yellow colored powder that is an azo dye. Its chemical formula is C13H8N3NaO5. It is known as 5-(3-Nitrophenylazo)salicylic acid sodium salt, Alizarin Yellow 2G, Metachrome Yellow, Mordant Yellow 1. It is soluble in water. Studies indicate that removal of the dye is pH dependent and can be withdrawn from aqueous solutions by irradiating the sample with radiation at 355 nm and nano ZnO particles.
